In the studio, my recent focus has been on the challenge of moving fast while maintaining a sense of integrity. How can I remain connected—head to feet, grounded in gravity—without pushing or forcing the flow? This exploration has been an attempt to uncover how speed can coexist with effortlessness, how momentum can carry me without disconnecting me from myself.
A red thread has begun to emerge in this process. I’ve found inspiration in solo works by some of my favorite dancers and choreographers, including Saburo Teshigawara and Rihoko Sato. Their kinetic presence lingers with me, not in a way that I aim to dissect or replicate, but as an impression that moves through me. I let these impressions guide my improvisation, shaping my own vocabulary without needing to analyze the movement (yet).
